IT IS heartening to hear from Cllr. Roebuck that Dorset Waste Partnership (DWP) are improving, and the improvement will continue and indeed I am sure this is true.
However, I cannot join him in applauding all their efforts.
The attempt at cleaning chewing gum from our street has been woeful, how many residents I wonder have noticed much difference?
As for the state of litter this is nothing short of a disgrace.
The management committee will all report that they have spoken to people and they have initiated works yet still litter is strewn at the sides of the roads leading into Weymouth from all directions.
What impression does this give visitors as they drive into the town? And exactly what is it we are asking residents to be proud of?
Who remembers the debacle of paper being shredded by the mowers along Granby and Weymouth Way a few years back?
No doubt that is about to happen again. We don’t want promises we want action.
