I, ALONG with many others I’m sure, share the same concerns as Dr Alan Chedzoy (letters Saturday June 17) regarding the Isle of Portland Aldridge Community Academy’s unbelievable decision to drop certain GCSE subjects half way through a two year course.

I would also add one other point which astounded me, acting principal Gary Spracklen’s crass comment “It is usual to review courses at this time of the year...”

Whilst that may occasionally be the case, a sensible and caring school would only drop courses ONCE they were completed by their current students.

How can they abandon students’ efforts leaving them high and dry in this manner?

Since the inception of this school the running of it has never failed to amaze me for all the wrong reasons.

Maybe Dorset County Council should take control as soon as possible for the sake of the students.
