THE Swanage School was officially opened by one of its own pupils.
Rather than inviting a celebrity or local politician to carry out the ribbon-cutting, the honour was given to Year 7 student Aden Williams.
The school, which took in its first pupils earlier this year, was officially opened last month.
Headteacher Tristram Hobson said: “We thought long and hard about who should cut the ribbon, and had all sorts of suggestions but ultimately it was an easy decision – the school is for the students, so it had to be a student.
“Aden represents all we value at The Swanage School – he tries hard and treats others with respect. He was also the first person to arrive when we opened our doors.”
