Lambs are in season

| Lambing event at Kingston Maurward keeping warm while having 40 winks |
SPRING wouldn't be the same without newborn lambs and there will be lots to see at the two lambing weekends at Kingston Maurward, near Dorchester, next month.
Children will be delighted to see hundreds of lambs in the lambing sheds, some will only be a few hours old and just beginning to bond with their mothers. Others will be a few days old and already giving mum a really hard time, running and jumping around their pen with their friends trying to burn off their excess energy.
If you are really lucky you may be able to see some lambs being born, but if not there will still be lots of very young lambs there.
You can get close to the ewes and their lambs, ask lots of questions or take a guided tour of the lambing sheds with one of the staff.
Children may be able to have a cuddle with a lamb too and free tractor and trailer rides will be available, weather permitting.
The lambing days also include the chance to see the older lambs who have been put out to grass as well as some of the rest of this beautiful estate.
Spring is a beautiful time to visit Kingston Maurward. The season's flowers will be in full bloom as you walk around the gardens and lakeside.
The animals in the animal park will also want to say hello to you and various animal handling sessions will take place throughout the day. You will also have the chance to browse in the shop and plant sales area or enjoy some light refreshments.
Kingston Maurward's lambing weekends take place on Saturday and Sunday, March 1 and 2, 8 and 9. A three-course Mother's Day lunch, which must be booked in advance, is available on Sunday, March 2, the cost of which includes a visit to the lambing experience and the gardens and animal park if you wish.
