MIDFIELD BATTLE: Hearn’s Ollie Stanton and Martinstown Cricket Club’s Liam Banfield MIDFIELD BATTLE: Hearn’s Ollie Stanton and Martinstown Cricket Club’s Liam Banfield

HEARN Group defeated Mitie in a tense penalty shootout to lift the Poppy Appeal Cup at the Thomas Hardye Leisure Centre in Dorchester.

Eight teams took part in the competition, which has raised approximately £1,700 for charity, and organiser Georgina Wakely was delighted with how well it all went.

She said: “It was a really good day and we think the event has raised just over £1,700 but that cannot be confirmed until all the sponsorship money has been received.

“I would like to say a big thank-you to everyone who took part and to all our sponsors. I would also like to thank Thomas Hardye Leisure Centre for stepping in at the last moment and providing us with a pitch to play on. “The support was fantastic and we have already had over 20 enquiries from various businesses and organisations as to whether they can take part in it next year.

“It certainly looks like the PA Cup will now become an annual event.”
