YOUNG entrepreneurs from Weymouth showed investors how their backing has paid off in a Dragons’ Den style contest.
The Thornlow Preparatory School pupils held a presentation to show how they fared with products – ‘Bags 4 U’ and ‘Krazy Cards’– which they had pitched to business people.
Betty Du, director of the Krazy Cards team, said: “It’s been really exhilarating and fun.
“We have had some difficulties but we have all tried to get on and work together to build our presentation.
“I never thought I would do something like this at school.”
Youngsters from years seven and eight developed their ideas during the spring term for simple products that could be marketed to the people of Weymouth.
The two teams created environmentally friendly shopping bags ‘Bags 4 U’ and ‘Krazy Cards’ postcards. At the end of term, they presented their finished products to businessmen, in their version of the television series ‘Dragons' Den’.
The dragons were Simon Jacobs from Brewin Dolphin, Edward Warr from Cartridge Zone and Simon Meers from Cove Yacht. Products have been sold in shops in the area.
Both teams chose to donate their profits to different charities.
Bags 4 U donated their profits to Naomi’s House children’s hospice and Krazy Cards donated their profits to the RNLI.
