DAVE Kiteley hopes the feel-good factor at Dorchester Town will rub off on his young charges this evening.

Cup fever has gripped the county town with the Magpies’ first team looking forward to a first round tie with Plymouth Argyle that will be screened live on ESPN.

And with the reserves entertaining Fleet Town in Wyvern Premier League action tonight (7.45pm), boss Kiteley is urging his troops to do all they can to earn a place in the match-day squad for the forthcoming FA Cup clash with the Pilgrims on November 4.

He said: “There is a real feel-good factor around the ground and it has a knock-on effect.

“You can have seven substitutes in the FA Cup and we had a couple of our lads on the bench on Saturday, so there are places up for grabs for the game with Plymouth.

“Even if you don’t get on the pitch it would be a great feeling to be involved in what will be one of the club’s biggest games for a number of years.

“Tonight and next week’s Dorset Senior Cup game will be a chance for one or two to put themselves in the frame.”

Assessing the Magpies’ chances against Argyle, Kiteley added: “If everyone plays to their potential, without fear or nerves, then there is a possibility of getting something out of the game.

“A replay would be outstanding for the club and there’s no reason why that can’t happen.”

Adam Taylor misses this evening’s encounter at the Greene King IPA Community Stadium through suspension so Kiteley will run the rule over Chickerell United defender Steve Welch.

The manager said: “Fortunately we have a clean bill of health but Adam is suspended so I will be having a look at Steve at right-back.

“Having spoken to Phil Simkin, the likes of Lewis Morgan, Nick Crittenden and Jon Garcia will also be playing.”

The reserves are 10th in the table with nine points from eight outings.
