MICHAEL Stone bagged a brace as Rendezvous moved to the top of the Weymouth Sunday League Premiership with a 7-3 victory over Rodwell.

It was a day to forget for the Boot Hill outfit’s talismanic defender Adam Laing, who not only registered an own goal but was also forced off after the incident following a clash of heads with Matt Camp.

His presence was definitely missed as the Vous ran riot after that with the dynamic Stone leading the charge with two trademark headers.

The classy forward three of Ricky Lane, Chris Skinner and Carl McClements also bagged a goal apiece with Charlie Kenderdine grabbing the other.

The victory has taken the 2011 champions one point clear at the summit but with Britannia and Weyline also picking up victories it continues to look like a four-horse race for the title.

The Brit beat Market House 2-1 while Weyline received a 5-0 walkover after Alexandra were unable to field a side.

In the Championship, two teams from the same club did battle for the first time in Sunday League history as leaders Portland Town Lions locked horns with Yates, the outfit saved from oblivion at the end of last season.

Despite a close first-half, Town ran out comfortable winners in the end with goals from Elliot Gould (5), Phil Lee and Justin Faulkner racking up a 7-1 scoreline. Harry Norman replied for Yates.

Elsewhere, there were wins for Dolphin, Belvedere, Dolce Vita and George Jewels.
