It’s time to shape up, warns Sports’ boss
CHRIS Hicks has told his players to shape up ahead of tomorrow’s home Senior League clash with Gillingham Town Reserves (2pm).
The joint-boss watched his Wey-mouth Sports side crash out of the Dorset Senior Trophy last time out at the hands of lower-league Pound-bury Rovers and he is now after a response.
Hicks told Echosport: “We have got to sort it out because last Saturday was just not good enough.
“We can accept it when people have a bad game but there are no excuses for poor attitude and application. That is aimed at everyone as well, not just individuals – no one is taking responsibility.”
Andy Cleal could return for Sports after missing the defeat against Rovers with a bad back.
After handing Swanage Town & Herston Reserves a walkover in the Dorset Senior Trophy last weekend, Portland United Reserves will also be desperate to bounce back with a good performance at home to Piddletrenthide United.
The reigning league champions were forced into the withdrawal after several of their players were away on a stag-do and Lee Clarke is crossing his fingers there is no hangover.
The Portland boss said: “Piddle-trenthide have started the sea- son quite well so it is another big game.
“They are going to be really up for it coming to us and we are going to have to be ready for it.”
Piddle currently sit third, just one point adrift of the Blues, who will also be looking to make amends following their 3-1 defeat at Sturminster Newton United last time out.
