WEYMOUTH will look to triumph over adversity tomorrow when they host Cambridge City at the Bob Lucas Stadium (3pm).

The Terras look likely to go into the clash with no recognised centre-backs but Brendon King is hopeful his men can still rise to the challenge against a Lilywhites side that have won four out of their last five league games.

The Weymouth boss said: “With Sam Poole, Kyle Critchell and Ed Palmer all suspended, we have desperately been trying to get in some cover and there is still time. However, if nothing materialises then we will just have to go as we are.

“It is still going to be 11 versus 11 and we will still have more than enough quality in the side to hurt them.

“If we can get the ball in the right areas and stay nice and solid we will stand every chance but there is no doubt it is going to be tough.”

Commenting on City, King went on to add: “They were one of the favourites for promotion at the start of the season.

“They strengthened their squad in the summer and already they have had a great run in this season’s FA Cup where they eventually went out to MK Dons in the first round after initially holding them to a draw.

“They are a big, strong side with a lot of quality players but as a squad we feel we can beat anyone on any given day.

“If we show the same work-rate and rise to the occasion then we will stand every chance.

“Sometimes in adversity people really step up to the plate and I am hoping that will be the case tomorrow.”

Barry McConnell and Dan Smith will return to the Terras’ ranks this weekend but there are a few players still carrying knocks.

King went on to say: “We have really had to wrap the lads up in cotton wool this week as the last thing we could afford was losing anyone else.

“Barry and Dan are back tomorrow, which is a big boost, and although some of the lads may have to play out of position I still believe we are more than capable of getting something from the game.”

The Terras currently sit 13th, one point adrift of ninth-placed Cambridge, who have played two games less.
