MATT Groves has told the Terras to wise up ahead of this Saturday’s home clash with high-flying Leamington.

The Terras have been a match for most teams in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division so far this season but according to their player-assistant-manager, they need to sharpen up mentally if they are to realise their potential.

Groves told Echosport: “At the moment, just when we think we have cracked it, we then go out and let ourselves down a little bit. It’s frustrating because we know we are not that far away.

“Everyone is so even in this league it tends to come down to one decision or one moment which ends up turning the game.

“We need to be making those right decisions at least eight or nine times out of 10 but at the moment it is only five or six.

“We still have a lot of young players that are still learning and hopefully that can continue and we can get stronger as the season goes on.”

Recent victories over Banbury, Hitchin and St Albans have been overshadowed by disappointing defeats against Stourbridge and Cambridge City and Groves believes that is down to concentration.

He added: “We have got more than enough ability but we have got to wise up mentally.

“We need to concentrate more and have that determination to stop the other side from scoring.

“At times this season we have tended to lose focus just after we have scored, but that is when we need to be at our most ruthless and make sure we dig in and not give anything away.”

Leamington currently sit second in the table, just three points off the top with four games in hand on current leaders Hemel Hempstead Town.
