PENNY Hunt, Dawn Holland and June Elvy have won a Ladies’ Captain’s Bowmaker competition, which was played at Honiton.

Eileen Ferguson, Margaret Allen, and Gill Bucke took second place.

Meanwhile, The Bramshaw Eclectic competition, which took place on their club’s beautiful course in the middle of the New Forest, was a very closely contested match with Weymouth (nett 68.75) finishing third behind Carns Hill (nett 68.5) and Royal Winchester (nett 68).

The first round of the Legg Bowl was played at Weymouth against Knighton Heath.

The silver pairing of Lisa Lown and Mandy Hawkins won their match seven up and the bronze duo of Sharon Rand and Pat Ray lost, three down. Weymouth went on to take the victory (four up).

The next match was at Bulbury Woods with the silver pair halving their contest and the bronze pair of Jane Harries and Megan Lewis losing two down.

In other action, Dilys Grant has lifted the Smale Cup, while the Joan Perry Salver, resulted in a win for Julie Hacket.

The last major competition of the year’s playing season was the Daily Mail Four-somes. The qualifiers this year are Sally Davis and Laura Dodington (74 nett). Penny Hunt and Pam Lee were second (75 nett).

The month ended with something new for the ladies’ section, with a friendly against the juniors, who won 3.5-5.
