STEPHEN Reed is backing the Terras to deliver some festive cheer over the busy Christmas period.

Tomorrow’s trip to Corby Town’s Steel Park to face basement boys Kettering (1pm) will kick-off a run of four games, weather permitting, in nine days for Weymouth and the plucky midfielder is looking forward to the challenge.

Reed told Echosport: “At the start of the season we were playing well and not getting results but we always knew if we continued doing the right things it would turn around, and that is exactly what has happened.

“We look a lot more solid and the fact we have won our last four games and picked up five straight victories on the road is just fantastic.

“Back in October, particularly after we got knocked out of the FA Trophy, everyone was down in the dumps but now it is very different and hopefully the momentum can continue.

“All we needed was that one spark and the victory at St Albans seemed to be it because since then we haven’t looked back.

“We don’t want to get carried away but if we could pick up a good result tomorrow ahead of two home games against Bashley and St Neots it would put us in a great position to push on and hopefully give the fans something to cheer.

“It’s just about taking each game as it comes and going from there.”

Reed has picked up a reputation of being a bit of a journeyman throughout his career but his third spell at Wey-mouth appears to be treating him well.

He added: “It is just a great place to be at the moment. In fact, it is the best team I have played in for a very long time.

“Ashley Wells’ return and a change in shape have given us a bit more pace at the back and the balance throughout the side is looking very good.

“There is also great competition for places and a fantastic spirit in the camp so, all in all, things could not be any better.”
