Cash-strapped Bees will get aid from Terras
8:52am Thursday 3rd January 2013 in Sport By David Williams, Sports Reporter
HELPING HAND: Brendon King
BRENDON King has confirmed that the Terras will play Bridport in a friendly to help boost the Western League club’s coffers.
The Weymouth boss got in touch with Bees’ manager Trevor Senior after it emerged that Bridport’s income had taken a hit due to a lack of home games in the first half of the season.
The date of the game depends on when both clubs can fit in an extra fixture but King told Echosport it will definitely go ahead at Brid-port’s St Mary’s Field home.
“I don’t like to see clubs struggling so I offered to take a team down there,” he said. “The only question now is when we can fit it in because they’ve got a backlog of games.
“We’ve been through struggles ourselves and know what it’s like to have problems with income.
“I’ve known Trevor for many years and Bridport is a great club, we just want to do what we can.
“The game will definitely happen at some point.”
* The funeral of former Terras’ boss Stan Charlton takes place tomorrow at Weymouth Crematorium (12.15pm).
Fans are then invited to show their respect for Stan in the Top Marks Lounge at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

How many are expected at this game then?? 100? 150? With so many fixtures for both teams to play in the league, I cant see any possible date this will be played. Bridport will be playing two games a week just to catch up with the rest of the teams in the league.

1 ) How do you know what the weather will be like when the game is played?
2 ) I would hazard a guess that Bridport & Weymouth fans would attend the game
3 ) It's a goodwill gesture to earn Bridport a few quid during hard times and I'm sure your support for local football is well appreciated
Let's hope that 'your own team' never fall on hard times and have to rely on the likes of you to get out of their arm chairs and actually support the club!
All the best......
