King wary of Totton backlash
9:10am Friday 11th January 2013 in Sport By Adam Summers
TOUGH GAME: Brendon King
BRENDON King is expecting to face a backlash at AFC Totton tomorrow.
The Hampshire outfit suffered a 6-0 defeat at Chesham United last time out and the Terras’ boss reckons that could make them very difficult opponents this weekend.
King told Echosport: “It is going to be a hard game there is no doubt about that because they are a decent side.
“They beat the league leaders Hemel Hempstead Town 2-0 recently before losing 6-0 at Chesham so they are going to be on the backlash, which is probably not a good time to play them.
“Their manager is going to want a reaction but at the end of the day it is all about us.”
King went on to add: “Over the last two seasons we have had some pretty good games against Totton.
“It was 3-3 earlier in the season and there were also plenty of goals in the four matches we played against them last year, so it should be interesting.
“The key to them is their two wide players, Mike Gosney and Jonathan Davies.
“If we can keep them quiet and be solid and well organised then we will stand every chance of coming away with a decent result.”
Skipper Scott Walker will miss the trip to the Testwood Stadium with a knee injury but apart from that King has no other concerns.
He said: “It is not ideal losing Scott but it is an opportunity for someone else to come in and stake a claim.
“The rest of the lads are all fit and raring to go and hopefully we can go there and put in a good performance.”
The Terras currently sit sixth in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division, one point adrift of the play-offs and eight points above mid-table Totton, who hold two games in hand.
Terras (from): Evans, McConnell, Wells, Poole, Palmer, Critchell, Clarke, Reed, Clay, Smith, Skinner, Duff, Joyce, Ford. Groves.
*The Terras have been drawn against Wimborne Town in the semi-finals of the Dorset Senior Cup. The date and neutral venue for the tie is still awaiting confirmation.
