MOONFLEET lost out to the the Dolphin Club in this Wessex League fixture.
The Fleet rink of Brian Martindill, Charlie Langridge and skip Dennis Branney faced R Sweatland, N Barnsley and skip C Waite and, in a tight first half, the Branney trio shaded the first 11 ends 9-7.
They then took the next five ends to open up a seven-shot lead, which proved decisive and despite losing the last two they held on to record a 14-9 victory.
The Moonfleet rink of Tony Colton, Roy Paull and skip Pat Rod took on D Sharpe, J And-rews and skip J Rumble and, in another tight start, the Rod trio lead 6-5 after eight ends.
The Rumble trio then upped their game, winning eight out of the last 10 ends, to claim the win, 18-9.
MOONFLEET 27 DOLPHIN 28
THE Dolphin club completed the double over Moonfleet in a Over-60s League clash.
Alan Churches, Brian Ar-grave and skip Ray Wall-bridge took on the Poole-based club’s B Plastad, D Sanyers and skip G Cowel with the Wallbridge rink taking a handy 10-5 lead after 10 ends.
The Cowel trio then fought back but were still three shots down with two to play but they maintained their momentum, picking up a one and two to claim a worthy 13-13 draw.
Moonfleet’s Derick Jackson, Howard King and skip John Stockley faced B Collins, C Truscott and skip R Moulton with the latter taking a 14-7 lead after 11 ends.
The Stockley three then took control, winning six out of the last seven ends but in a tight finish they fell just short, losing by one shot, 15-14.
