DOUBLE-TRAP star Peter Wilson has given his biggest indication yet that he is set to try and defend his Olympic title in 2016.
Since striking gold in London last summer, the Dorset shooter’s future in the sport has been unclear but a trip to Rio now appears to be at the forefront of his mind.
The Dorchester-born ace told Echosport: “You have caught me at a good time because we have just had a big British Shooting meeting in Newbury and we are now beginning to focus on the next Olympics.
“I have been thinking about that a lot and I am more certain now that I will be at least attempting to go to Rio in 2016.
“I do not want to jump the gun because there are all the qualifications to go through first but hopefully I will get there.”
Big changes have been made to the Olympic discipline of double trap since the home Games but Wilson is confident a year of hard training will soon see him adapt.
