Ex-Plymouth striker in Brendon's sights

TRIALIST ON BOARD: Brendon King
BRENDON King is hoping to run the rule over ex-Plymouth Argyle striker Jake Vickers at St Mary’s Field tonight (7.45pm).
This evening’s friendly was initially set up to raise some much-needed funds for Bridport but it now has even bigger significance on the playing side following recent postponements.
Weymouth boss King told Echosport: “Yesterday the pitch down there was playable so hopefully it will go ahead as both sides desperately need to get some minutes under their belts.
“We go to Hemel Hempstead Town on Saturday, which is going to be a very tough game, so it is important we try and blow some of the cobwebs off.
“We might have a trialist on board too in Jake Vickers.
“He is a 16-year-old centre forward who has just been released from Plymouth. He is 6ft 4in tall and I am looking forward to seeing him in action.”
When asked for injury updates on Scott Walker and Mark Ford, King added: “Scott is recovering well from his knee injury but tonight’s game has maybe come a week too early for him.
“He is hoping to do a little bit of running with the physio beforehand and the fact he has missed just one game so far has certainly given him a lift.
“As for Fordy, we still don’t know the full extent of his hand injury, so he probably won’t take any part either.”
