Stars at the table at Westfield

ENGLAND DUO: Matt Ware and Jamie Trevillion will be appearing at Westfield Technology College ENGLAND DUO: Matt Ware and Jamie Trevillion will be appearing at Westfield Technology College

WESTFIELD Technology College will be graced by two promising table-tennis players when a demonstration and tournament is held on Saturday, February 9.

English duo Mathew Ware, currently ranked eighth in the country, and teenager Jamie Trevillion, a top 50 junior, will treat members of Preston Table Tennis Club to a skill-laden exhibition before overseeing a subsequent tournament.

Ware reached the quarter-finals of the men’s singles in the 2011/12 National Championships before losing to Danny Reed, while Trevillion narrowly missed out on the knockout stages of the National Junior Championships when he finished third in his group.

Preston continue to build the profile of local table-tennis and enjoy a large presence in the Weymouth and District Table Tennis League, fielding five teams across three divisions. Their most recent success came when Preston A achieved promotion to Division One last season.

It is hoped that the demonstration by Ware and Trevillion will boost the team as they look to continue their good form towards the latter part of the season.
