Senior: We do not fear the leaders
8:33am Friday 25th January 2013 in Sport By David Williams, Sports Reporter
SUSPENDED: Russell Legg
BRIDPORT’S task does not get much harder tomorrow when league leaders Brislington are the visitors to St Mary’s Field (3pm).
The Bees will look to make the most of home advantage though as they face a side that beat them in the Les Phillips Cup back in November.
And Bees’ boss Trevor Senior reckons if that game is anything to go by then Bridport do not need to fear their opponents, who lost to Bishop Sutton last time out.
“We lost 1-0 to them in the cup earlier in the season but more than matched them on that occasion,” he said.
“I thought we had the lion’s share of possession on that occasion and at least deserved to take them to extra time. They are a fairly strong side and they are top of the league for a reason but we had our chances against them before.
“Ryan Dovell hit the post and we had claims for a penalty and I wouldn’t say they were one of the best teams we have played against.
“Hopefully we can give a good account of ourselves on Saturday.”
Senior will be without Russell Legg as he serves a suspension for a red card against Street but Jamie Symes, on-loan from Dorchester, is hoping to feature in his first Toolstation Western Premier Division encounter after returning to his old stamping ground two weeks ago.
The focus, however, is bound to be on the weather again on Saturday after the midweek friendly against Weymouth was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
Bridport have played once in the league since December 15 and could do with getting some much-needed game time under their belts while the story is the same for Brislington, who head the table by three points from Cadbury Heath having played two games more.
