TOWN’S BEST: Weymouth St Paul’s Harriers members at the Dorset County Sportshall Championships
WEYMOUTH St Paul’s Harriers enjoyed a prolific meet at the Dorset County Sportshall Championships at Canford School, winning seven events.
In the under-13 circuit relay, under-11 girls Kimberly Starnes, Jaimee Browne, Adelaide Elsom and Caila Kirkpatrick took a superb first place.
Elsom then went on to win the under-11 girls’ high jump with a stunning personal best of 110cm. Starnes also won the under-11 girls’ standing long jump with Abigail Dunford, in her first ever competition for the club, taking tenth in the same event.
Kirkpatrick emerged victorious in the vertical jump with Holly Kingman fifth, while Browne took second in the speed bounce with Sofia Voss third in the shot putt.
For the under-13 girls, Jodie Clarke was fourth in the standing triple jump with Zoe Allen also finishing fourth in the shot put and Emily Fraher claiming fifth in the high jump.
Weymouth’s sole representative in the under-15 girls, Hannah Westhenry, was third in the vertical jump, shot put and four-lap race, taking a highly-respectable fourth overall in the under-15 girls’ competition.
Elsewhere, James Tufnail excelled in the under-13 boys’ competition with first place in both the vertical jump and the four-lap running race.
In the under-11 boys’ events, Elliot Rossiter won the two-lap race and came second in the standing long jump with Zach Wilson second in his four-lap heat.
Benjamin Jones topped the four-lap standings after winning a closely-contested final before claiming second in the vertical jump.
Luke Kingston was ninth in the speed bounce and also took second in his two-lap heat in what was a great meet for the Harrers.
