Seven-up Weymouth move into third spot

SUPPORTERS of ladies’ football are in for a treat tomorrow when ex-Arsenal and England star Rachel Stowell will line up at the Bob Lucas Stadium.
WEYMOUTH LADIES 7 PLYMSTOCK LADIES 0
WEYMOUTH moved into third place in the South West League Premier Division with a scintillating display of attacking football that saw them overwhelm their counterparts from Plymstock.
After all the bad weather of late, the hosts arrived at the Bob Lucas Stadium to find the pitch looking remarkably good and thanks must go to the Weymouth FC groundsmen for their hard work in ensuring the game went ahead.
For the first time this season the home club had the luxury of picking from a full squad of players and new signing Charlie Wilson came in to make her debut on the left-hand side of midfield.
Wilson, whose previous club was Poole Town Youth, is another exciting young prospect Weymouth have added to their ranks.
Plymstock came with a game plan of getting players behind the ball and making themselves difficult to break down but goals came at regular intervals throughout the match after Ella Walmsley had managed to break the deadlock after 20 minutes with a great strike.
Others who got their names on the scoresheet were Bryony Webb (2), Bianca Randall, Philippa Holden, Emma Acott and Rosie Sharpe with a fabulous long-range strike.
The most pleasing aspect of the performance was the ball retention and the way Weymouth were patient and passed the ball, which was probably the best the team have done all season.
