Terras striker Mark Ford eyes the play-offs
4:43pm Wednesday 13th February 2013 in Sport By David Williams, Sports Reporter
AIMING HIGH: Matt Ford
TERRAS striker Mark Ford sees no reason why the club cannot target the play-offs after back-to-back home wins put them within two points of the top five.
And it is the team in fifth, Cambridge City, who the Terras face next in a crunch Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division clash on Saturday.
Ford bagged a brace against Bed-worth on his return to the side last weekend and goes to Cambridge hungry to add to his 12 league goals this term.
And having helped Weymouth come out of a mini slump that saw them go five games without a win, Ford reckons they can climb even higher up the table.
When asked if the club could start looking at the play-offs as a realistic possibility, he said: “I think we can do.
“We’re two points off the play-offs and go to Cambridge next for what is a massive game.
“We went on a good run before the new year and have got back to playing like that ahead of two big away games at Cambridge and Kettering.”
A broken hand left Ford a frustrated spectator on the sidelines before his comeback last Saturday and now he wants to make up for lost time.
He added: “I was itching to get back but had to wait until last Friday to have my cast off.
“I managed to get back into the swing of things and scoring so soon helped no end.”
