Team of three take Burns title at Weymouth

POOR weather and a very wet course has caused many matches to be abandoned over the last few weeks at Weymouth Golf Club.
However, one of them that escaped the elements was the Burns Team of Three competition.
In a close-run affair, just one point separated the top three teams, with the winning trio of Andy Chambers, Alex Hayne and Kevin Grimshaw carding 78 points.
John Bishop, Jamie Herring and Steve Whyte pipped Simon Etherington, Neil Winspear and Jason Pring on countback with 77 points, while Sam Houston produced some of the best shots of the weekend with three twos on his card.
The Ladies’ Mail on Sunday team played at Bridport on one of the few sunny days of the year and won their match 3½ to 1½.
