ROB Maxted’s fantastic five helped Dolphin hit back twice at basement boys Broadmayne to extend their lead at the top of the Weymouth Sunday League Championship.

The table-toppers experienced a shocking start to both halves, going 3-0 down in the first and then 5-3 behind in the second, but somehow they managed to claw their way back to eventually record a 7-5 victory.

Their last four goals came in the final 15 minutes with Maxted clearly the star of the show.

The ex-Portland and Chickerell striker netted five times for the visitors with Dean Hauser and James Edmonds completing their tally on what could prove a pivotal day in the campaign.

With second-placed Portland Town losing 3-1 at Yates, Dolphin now lead the table by four points, although the Ricol Arena outfit do still hold a game in hand.

Elsewhere in the division, Belvedere recorded a 5-3 victory against The Lounge while Dolce Vita overcame Moby Dick’s 3-2.

It is also getting interesting at the top of the Premiership where Rodwell cranked up the pressure on Rendezvous with a 4-0 victory over Britannia.

The result has taken the Boot Hill boys three points clear at the summit but the nightclubbers still hold two games in hand.

Finally, Market House played out a 1-1 draw against reigning champions Weyline, who currently lie fourth, eight points adrift of the top three.
