BRENDON King has called on the Terras to be sensible in regards to their play-off ambitions in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division.
Saturday’s 2-0 home victory over St Albans City saw Weymouth climb to fifth in the table but their cautious boss is refusing to look too far ahead.
When asked about his side’s current position, King told Echosport: “We are getting towards the business end of the season now but it is vital we continue to just take it one game at a time.
“We have a Dorset Senior Cup semi-final at the County Ground, Hamworthy on Wednesday night against Wimborne Town (7.45pm) where we will probably look to switch things around a bit, before we then go to Hitchin Town on Saturday.
“Hitchin have won three of their last four and are flying at the moment, so that is going to be another really tough game, and with a difficult trip to Hemel Hempstead Town to follow after that, we just need to be sensible.”
Kyle Critchell and Mark Ford bagged the goals for the Terras at the weekend to chalk up a fourth win in five games.
Reflecting on the performance, King added: “We started well and went two up in 16 minutes and after that I thought we looked comfortable.
“They then had a couple of half chances and so did we but in the end it was just a well-disciplined performance, particularly after two long away trips.
“We stopped playing a little bit at one stage but we never lost our shape and they never really looked like hurting us.
“I thought Kyle and Ben Joyce played particularly well but all in all it was just a good team display.”
The Terras have now exceeded their points tally from the whole of last season and currently occupy the last play-off spot by a point. However, they have still played more games than the rest of the top nine.
