Magpies are transformed

DORCHESTER Town supremo Phil Simkin believes he and his team can start looking up the Blue Square Bet South table now after smashing Billericay for six last night.

The Magpies moved to within touching distance of the play-off places as Charlie Clough netted twice in a 6-1 rout of the visitors at the Avenue.

And Simkin reckons the result, Dorch-ester’s fifth win in six games, will make other sides in the division take note that they mean business.

“I’d been saying we were going to do that to a side one day,” he said. “They are a decent side and I knew it would be a hard one but I never thought in my wildest dreams we’d put six past them.

“I can’t remember the last time we scored six but it’s going to make a few people sit up and take notice.

“It gives us 44 points now which I really think is nearly enough to not worry about the other end of the table.

“The way we battled and fought in that first half earned us that second-half performance.

“I thought we were excellent and it’s hard to pick anyone out. Our season has completely transformed. It doesn’t seem that long ago we were losing 4-0 to Bromley, which was the turning point for us.”
