IN this penultimate Wessex League game of the season, Dorch-ester achieved maximum points against rivals Bridport.
At home, Dorchester's Vic Wakely, Peter Stevenson, Dave Glanville and Roger Nicholas had a close game against B Baker, Max Dare, Keith Gentry and Ken Enticott and after 11 ends the score was 6-6.
With only three ends to go, Dorchester found themselves 12-10 down but picked up shots of four and three to go 17-12 ahead but dropped four shots on the final end to narrowly win 17-16.
The other home rink of Tom Mooney, Ashley Jury, Gary Mumford and Dean Curtis came up against Mel Griffiths, B Galpin, Bob Taylor and Ivor Parker and were 16-7 up after 11 ends but Parker picked up five shots on the next to close the gap to 16-12.
It remained fairly even after that with the county town rink winning 24-18.
Dorchester’s travelling four of Brian Paulson, David Bonnett, Ged Costello and Phil Hallett had a game of two halves against D Roberts, P Hedges, Keith Brooks and Brian Rumble.
The first half of the game belonged to Bridport who were 13-6 in the lead after 12 ends but never scored another shot while Hallett’s four scored 24 shots to win 30-13.
The other away foursome of Jim Kelly, Terry Green-man, Alan Curtis and Jamie Lockwood had a closer game against D Conroy, B Walsh, M Grier and Chris Thorne and there was only one shot in it after 11 ends at 11-10 to Dorchester.
It was nip and tuck for the rest of the game with Lock-wood’s rink winning 20-18.
