New Terras' deal for Joyce
THE Terras have received a much-needed lift with the news that Ben Joyce has agreed a new contract until the end of next season.
Following the serious injury sustained by Kyle Critchell earlier this week, this will come as a welcome boost for the Weymouth faithful and no doubt help galvanise the side ahead of this afternoon’s tough trip to Hitchin Town (3pm).
Boss Brendon King said: “It has been a tough few days but the fact Ben has signed is fantastic news.
“We want to get players tied up as soon as possible and for me Ben has been one of our outstanding performers this season.
“He has scored 13 times in the league already and his awareness and hold up play have been superb.
“He is so much more than someone who just scores goals and I am just delighted we have got this done.
“Hopefully a few more will follow shortly.”
The Wessex Fantasy Football is helping fund the contract.
Weymouth chairman Nigel Bid-dlecombe added: “Weymouth FC is indebted to the Wessex Fantasy Football whose generous donation has enabled us to place Ben on this contract.
“Their efforts, which have now provided around £30,000 to the club over the past three seasons, have been fantastic and we would all like to thank them for their continued support.”
Joyce will sign his new 15-month contract on the pitch prior to the Banbury fixture on March 9.
