Battling Magpies hold on for deserved point
6:29pm Saturday 9th March 2013 in Sport By David Williams, Sports Reporter
MAGPIES 0 BOREHAM WOOD 0
THE Magpies ground out a deserved point at the Avenue despite playing for most of the second half with 10 men following Nathan Walker’s red card.
Walker was shown a straight red by referee Mark Pottage for a poor challenge on Boreham Wood’s Greg Morgan yet that seemed to inspire the hosts to their second Blue Square Bet South 0-0 draw of the week.
Clear cut chances were few and far between for the Magpies, who started without the crocked Ben Watson and lost fellow striker Kieffer Moore to an on-going thigh problem halfway through his home debut.
Boreham Wood did have the better opportunities in front of goal but Jason Matthews was up to the task for Dorchester while Loick Pires was guilty of squandering a free header from four yards out for the fifth-placed visitors.
