Magpies game off after early inspection
10:18am Saturday 16th March 2013 in Sport By David Williams, Sports Reporter
HEAVY overnight rain has forced the postponement of Dorchester Town's Blue Square Bet South game with AFC Hornchurch at the Avenue this afternoon.
A local referee inspected the pitch early this morning and deemed it unplayable, making it the second fixture the Magpies' have lost to the weather this week.
Both clubs are discussing a new date for the match, the details of which will be announced as soon as possible.
However, Dorchester's encounter with Farnborough, called off because of a frozen pitch on Tuesday, has been rearranged for Tuesday, March 26 (7.45pm).
That will have a knock-on effect on current and forthcoming suspensions.
Charlie Clough now misses Weston-super-Mare, Hayes & Yeading and Farnborough fixtures, Arran Pugh is out for Weston and Hayes while Nathan Walker misses Hayes, Farnborough and Staines.
Meanwhile, today's postponement means there won't be the chance of another home debut just yet for striker Tom Nichols, who joined on-loan from Exeter City yesterday.
Nichols had a spell on-loan at the Avenue last season.
Elsewhere in local football, the Magna Dorset Premier League games involving Portland United and Weymouth Reserves are also off.
Also, all matches involving Bridport are off, including the firsts' trip to Brislington in the Toolstation Western Premier Division.
