JAY Lelliott penned another chapter in his re-writing of the Dorset record books as the Dorset County Championships opened at Littledown.

The Swim Bournemouth 18-year-old toppled four Dorset senior records and eight competition best times (CBTs) as he dominated the men’s events.

His record-breaking wins across the first two days of the championships came in the 17-and-over 50m and 100m backstroke in 26.80 and 56.22 respectively, the 100m butterfly in 55.93 and the 400m freestyle in 3:53.68.

All four times broke senior and age group CBTs and the Dorset senior records. He just missed more records in the 100m freestyle and 200m medley by a few 100ths of a second.

Lelliott, who joined Swim Bournemouth from Tornadoes of South Dorset last summer and travels from Portland to Canford School five times a week to train, said: “I’m over the moon with my progress since I came here.

“I think I could have gone a bit faster if the warm-up pool had been available.”
