ACTION-PACKED racing will begin in Palma, Majorca on Monday with more than 900 sailors competing across 10 Olympic events.

Held across Club Nàutic S’Arenal and Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa, the ISAF Sailing World Cup regatta has attracted 35 boat entries in the new Nacra 17 mixed multihull fleet.

Big names to watch include Dorset’s former Match Racing Olympian Lucy Macgregor and team-mate Tom Phipps, and Beijing 2008 Yngling gold medallist Pippa Wilson and team-mate John Gimson.

In the new women’s 49erFX high performance Skiff, Poole’s Kate Macgregor has teamed up with Mary Rook, while Weymouth’s Charlotte Dobson will be racing with rising star Sophie Ainsworth.

Weymouth’s Luke Patience and Joe Glanfield will be making their debut in the men’s 470 dinghy class, while the new 49er duo of Portland’s Stuart Bithell and crew-mate Chris Grube will be competing in their second big event in the men’s 49er high performance Skiff, as will Stuart Appleby and Alex Tobutt.

The Finn heavyweight dinghy contenders will include Portland’s Giles Scott and Andrew Mills.

Weymouth windsurfer and recent World Championship silver medallist Bryony Shaw will be competing in the women’s RS:X event along with British team-mate Izzy Hamilton.

Portland’s Ali Young will race in the Laser Radial dinghy fleet, while Portland’s Megan Pascoe will be among the British sailors in the 2.4mR Paralympic keelboat class.

There will also be hot competition in the men’s Laser dinghy, women's 470 dinghy and men’s RS:X events when racing takes place between April 1 and 6.
