WEYMOUTH Youth Cricket Club will be starting outdoor training for the forthcoming season.

Training sessions will start on Wednesday, April 10 at the Wey Valley School sports field between 6-8pm. New players will be warmly welcomed into the club and equipment is available to borrow.

Both boys and girls are welcome to attend and for further details telephone Hugh Lawes on 07747011730.

A club spokesman said: “Weymouth will be running two sides this year in the West Dorset Junior Cricket League.

“Players from school Years Four to Six will represent the under-11s with games held on Monday evenings, while the under-13s will comprise players from Years Seven to Nine with games held on Thursday evenings.

“An under-15s side will also play friendly matches on a regular basis. Home matches will be played at Redlands on pitch number one, the same one used by the Weymouth first team.

“Any players interested in joining the club will be made to feel most welcome and will be given a high standard of coaching to help build the Weymouth youth teams back into a cricketing force once more.

"Already we have a number of youth players within the club who represent West Dorset and the full Dorset County teams.”
