PORTLAND’S Megan Pascoe claimed top honours at the RYA Olympic Classes Spring Series on home waters.

Amid windy conditions at the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy, Pascoe continued her successful start to 2013 with a victory in the 2.4mR Paralympic keelboat class.

It was her second Spring Series weekend win of the year having claimed first prize at the March event and with no Paralympic classes racing at the third and final event at Hayling Island next month, Pascoe secured overall honours for the 2013 edition.

The triumph added to a growing list of 2013 accolades for the 26-year-old, who also won an ISAF Sailing World Cup gold at Miami in January and silver at the Palma World Cup edition earlier this month.

Racing action at the Spring Series also saw Weymouth duo and Echo columnists Alex Tobutt and Stuart Appleby top the leaderboard in the 49er event over British Sailing Team Development squad sailors Henry Lloyd Williams and Sam Batten.

The final event in the RYA Olympic Classes Spring Series takes place at Hayling Island Sailing Club from May 18-19. Visit ryaracingevents.org.uk
