Johnson seeks new keeper as Stech breaks hand

YEOVIL Town manager Gary Johnson will this week sign a new goalkeeper on loan after Marek Stech broke two bones in his hand against Birmingham.
The Czech stopper sustained the injury after just six minutes of the game when he punched the head of defender Byron Webster.
And it proved costly for the Glovers as they conceded the only goal of the game from a corner early in the second half, with the ball bouncing in off Dan Seaborne, pictured inset.
Goalkeeping coach Gareth Stewart will continue to act as cover, with a new face arriving this week to take Stech’s place in the team.
Former Glovers’ loanee Stephen Henderson, who also spent a spell with Wey-mouth, is a possible target.
The Irish-man is currently contracted to West Ham but spent time with Ipswich in the Champ-ionship last season.
Johnson said: “It’s a massive blow. I’m sorry for Marek because we can find another keeper but he can’t get another hand. He’ll be out for three months because he’s broken two bones in his hand and we’ll have to get someone in on loan.
“We had it in our minds anyway to get a loan keeper in if anything happened to Marek and we’ve got a couple of names in mind.
“We’ll have a new keeper by next weekend but it was a blow for us and it deprives Marek of the chance to play in the Championship for the next few months. He was so important for us last season and had started well this time around as well. But you have to cope with injuries.
“The Glovers were made to pay for failing to take their chances against Birmingham and left frustrated by an outstanding display from City keeper Darren Randolph.
Webster was denied by Rand-olph in the first half when his fierce volley was beaten away by the Republic of Ireland international. And Randolph produced another great save after the break to deflect Webster’s header on to the crossbar.
