Goodship on board for Magpies
PHIL Simkin has added AFC Bournemouth forward Brandon Goodship to his squad ahead of this afternoon’s opening Skrill South clash at Staines Town (3pm).
The teenager has joined the Magpies on an initial one-month loan deal and is regarded by the Cherries as a hot prospect.
Simkin told Echosport: “Brandon is a young front player who Bournemouth have high hopes for.
“He played in the second half of our pre-season friendly against them and his movement was really good.
“He has also got a bit of pace about him and is a good finisher so I am very grateful to Bournemouth for their help.”
He went on to add: “Brandon goes straight into the squad for the Staines game but it is unlikely he will start as he needs to get used to his new surroundings first.
“He will be on the bench but will probably get some action at some stage.”
It looks like skipper Mark Jermyn will also figure at Wheatsheaf Park despite having missed all of Dorchester’s pre-season games due to a knee injury.
Simkin said: “Mark did a full training session on Thursday night and as long as there is no reaction he should play.
“We have not got a great deal of experience in the side at the moment and having him back is massive.
“He is not 100 per cent match fit but he knows how to navigate the pitch at this level.”
