NETBALL: Waterside are the invincibles
4:25pm Wednesday 21st August 2013 in Sport
WATERSIDE have been crowned South & West Dorset Summer League champions again.
The table-toppers retain-ed their title after winning all 15 of their games and amassing a total of 800 goals in the process.
For the past 10 years, Waterside, pictured right, have been sponsored by Graham Frampton and Paul Rookes and the team would like to thank them for their unwavering support and generosity.
Meanwhile, Brickcraft have been relegated after losing a basement battle with Cresta Leisure 53-39.
Cresta showed their desire to win from the start, and by making good use of the court and excellent shooting by Carolyn Allgood (GS) they took an early lead.
Brickcraft were without two of their most prominent defensive players but young replacements Erin King and Amelia Williams certainly took the fight to the opposition.
The former took the player of the match accolade in only her second game.
Brickcraft’s shooters Sue Cox and Tracey Moore passed the ball confidently in and around the circle resulting in a goal deficit of only four by half-time.
Cresta’s defence stepped up to the mark with the win in sight and both Lucy Astrid and Louise Hobson made some slick interceptions to deny Brickcraft some vital scoring opportunities.
