FOOTBALL: Blues and Bees aiming for three points
JOE Toghill, Dan Newnham and Ryan McKechnie all have good memories of the last time Portland United played Poole Borough.
Toghill was on target twice and Newnham and McKechnie once each as the Blues beat Poole in the penultimate game of their 2012/13 championship-winning campaign.
Unfortunately for current boss Gary Bailey, the trio will be missing for the islanders when they travel to Poole tomorrow (3pm) looking for a repeat of that 4-0 win in May.
Their opponents finished bottom of the table last term but have started this season promisingly with seven points from four matches.
And Bailey knows that his men will have their work cut out this time around.
“Poole have made a decent start to the season so we will be going there fully expecting a tough examination,” he said.
“I couldn’t have asked for a better start from my players and it is important that we continue to build on that and keep the momentum going.
“Confidence is obviously high at the club at the moment. However, we cannot afford to get carried away and must guard against being complacent.”
Andy Harris also doesn’t feature but Lewis Clarke returns after missing the win at Holt through illness.
Will Gould is also back and Ed Bastic is included in the squad after impressing during pre-season.
Bridport Reserves can bounce back from defeat to Weymouth Reserves on Tuesday when they host Swanage Town & Herston (3pm).
