MAGPIES: Dorchester officials praise backing
OFFICIALS at the Avenue Stadium have praised the Dorchester Town Supporters’ Club after they took their total donations to the Magpies past the £345,000 mark.
The milestone was reached on Tuesday when £1,450 was handed over to the club before the home fixture against Weston-super-Mare.
Harold Gill, secretary of the 66-year-old supporters’ club, led a small party of members who presented the cheque to Magpies’ directors Matt Lucas and Dave Read prior to kick-off.
At a time when finances are being scrutinised throughout football, assistance from fans and supporters’ groups is as important as ever.
And Magpies’ fundraising director Read expressed the club’s thanks to the supporters’ club for their continued backing. He said: “We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone in the supporters’ club, who once again this year have donated a superb sum of money.
“Their tireless work both on matchdays and outside the stadium at local events is greatly appreciated by everyone at the football club.
“The supporters’ club do so much in backing and promoting the club and it really is appreciated.”
Magpies’ fans can join the supporters’ club for just £5 a season or £20 for a five-year membership.
All new or renewing members are automatically entered into a draw for a lifetime season ticket.
