TERRAS: King's men look to end hoodoo
WEYMOUTH will be out to break a three-year losing streak tomorrow when they tackle Cambridge City at the Bob Lucas Stadium (3pm).
The Terras are currently top of the crop in the Calor Southern Premier Division with 10 points from four games but there is no one they fear more than the Lilywhites.
City have won the last six meetings between the two sides in which Weymouth have found the net just once – a record that Brendon King is desperate to end this weekend.
The Terras boss told Echosport: “Cam-bridge have had a bit of a hoodoo over us in recent years but hopefully we can break that tomorrow.
“They are one of those sides that are always there or thereabouts and they are always very tough to play against.
“They have got an experienced manager, who has been there for 10 years now, and although they are in a bit of rebuilding phase you always know with Gary Roberts’ sides that they are going to be disciplined and extremely well organised.
“In that sense it should be a great game and there is no doubt we are going to have to be on it from the start.”
King was disappointed with his side’s last performance at Poole Town on Monday and knows his men will have to improve if they are to keep their unbeaten start intact.
He added: “We will need to be a lot better in possession tomorrow because if we give the ball away easily it’s going to be very hard work getting it back.
“We are also going to have to show a bit more patience when it comes to trying to unlock them.
“Despite losing a few players in the summer they still have quite a bit of experience in their ranks and they also possess one of the best keepers in the league in Zac Barrett.
“I also know that they are travelling down here today, so they are doing things properly and will be ready for everything we throw at them.
“It’s going to be another big test but the boys cannot wait for the next game at the minute and hopefully our good start can continue.”
Simon Evans, Michael Walker, Kyle Critchell and Jamie Symes remain sidelined for the Terras.
There is no timeframe in regards to Evans and Critchell but Walker and Symes could be back in as little as three weeks.
City currently lie 14th in the table with their only defeat so far having come at home against Poole.
