FOOTBALL: Passing tests at Weymouth FC Soccer School
4:00pm Monday 9th September 2013 in Sport
The second Weymouth FC soccer school of the summer was blessed with fine weather during the last week of the school holidays and attracted 20 participants over four days at the Bob Lucas Stadium.
Over the four days’ play, lead coach Andy Campbell-Bell set his charges a number of fun challenges including warm-up drills, small-sided games and tournaments, and each winner was awarded a small prize during the presentation.
Triumphing in the shoot-outs were Aaron Griffin and William Green while Nate Kelly came out on top in the crossbar challenge.
Other challenges were won by Leon Reed (passing), Travis Reynolds (free-kick) and Rowan Taylor (target practice).
And the two major awards – player of the week and most improved – went to Reynolds and Leon Reed respectively.
Campbell-Bell said: “It was a better turnout than the first week of August and it was really good to be able to use all the facilities back at the stadium.
“The kids were fantastic over the four days – hopefully all of them and more will return for the October half-term week, which should be a cracker.”
