MAGPIES: Sholing shown the door by Magpies
DORCHESTER RESERVES 4 SHOLING RESERVES 1
REIGNING Wyvern League kings Sholing felt the full force of an in-form county town side at the Avenue.
The Magpies maintained their 100 per cent start to the season with a third victory in as many games, all coming on home turf.
Again starting with a sprinkling of first-team squad members, the hosts settled quickly and took the lead inside 10 minutes.
Jack Twyford crossed and Alex Godfrey finished neatly to open his account for the campaign.
Both Arran Pugh and Tony Rolls went close to doubling Dorchester’s advantage with headers, while at the other end, Tim Sandercombe had to be on his toes to deny Sholing an equaliser.
Holding a slender lead going into the second period, the Magpies brought Antony Carlile on for Steve Smith at the back and it didn’t take long for the second goal of game to arrive.
And it was a special strike from Danny Way, who let fly with a left-foot volley from outside the area which gave the Sholing keeper no chance.
The points were sealed on 65 minutes when, after substitute Jason Kennard had been felled in the box, Jamie Beasley stepped up to convert from the spot.
The wide man has now scored in all three of the Magpies’ reserve matches.
Things got even better for the hosts on 75 minutes when Kenn-ard, on for Pugh, smashed in a shot off the underside of the bar to make it 4-0.
Goalscorer Beasley made way for Rodney Gwenzi before the visitors grabbed a consolation late on with a shot which went in off Craig Michie’s leg and a post.
“It was a very accomplished performance again so we’ve got to be happy,” said Magpies’ boss Dave Kiteley.
Table-toppers Dorchester are home to Wimborne Town next Tuesday (7.45pm).
Magpies: Sandercombe, Smith (Carlile), Michie, Rolls, Pugh (Kennard), Way, Twyford, Gape, Vallier, Godfrey, Beasley (Gwenzi)
