BEES: Leigh looking for a quickfire double for Bridport
Brislington v Bridport
BRIDPORT can follow up a first home win of the season with another positive result tonight at Brislington (7.30pm).
Assistant-manager Kev Leigh admitted it was a big relief for the Bees to break their duck at St Mary’s Field against Longwell Green Sports last time out.
And the perfect way to consolidate that 4-0 drubbing would be to pick up at least a point tonight in a fixture they won last season.
Ryan Dovell won’t quite be ready for the game but is hopeful of coming back for Saturday’s home clash with Ilfracombe after groin and ankle injuries.
However, on-loan Wimborne defender Steve Smith is expected to return while Leigh is waiting to find out if Russell Legg and Max Buckler have work commitments.
Both Chris Senior and Matt Condliffe featured for the reserves at the weekend and are likely to need more minutes with them before returning to first-team action after time away travelling.
“We’ll probably stick with the same side,” said Leigh. “Brislington are a good side but we beat them up there last season.
“I don’t know what we’re going to come up against as players at the Bristol sides go from club to club a lot of the time.”
He added: “A hell of a lot of work is done around the club by the committee that isn’t always seen so it was pleasing to get a first home win of the season.
“Let’s hope it continues and it would be nice to back up Saturday’s win with another good result tonight.”
Brislington have made a steady start to their Toolsta-tion League Premier Division campaign with nine points from seven games leaving them in mid-table.
