MAGPIES: Trust express regret over Hearn resignation
DORCHESTER Town Community Trust chairman John Greenslade has expressed regret over Shaun Hearn’s decision to step down from the Magpies’ board.
Club co-chairman Hearn, above, has decided to resign from his role and will vacate his position on October 18, five months after transferring 50 per cent of his majority shareholding to the trust.
Greenslade paid tribute to Hearn for guiding the club through a difficult financial period as well as the club’s most successful season ever last term.
“The trust had looked forward to working closely with Hearn to help realise our joint aim of a community owned club,” he said.
“Shaun’s experience was highly valued and his pursuit of community ownership demonstrated a far sighted vision of a sustainable football club.
“Shaun’s contribution at club board level will surely be missed, but we hope that he will continue in his role as a trust board member, and that we will continue on the path towards full community ownership of the football club.”
Greenslade went on to say that the football club currently faces exceptionally challenging times, and that the supporters hold the key to future success.
He added: “Our supporters have a reputation for pulling together when the chips are down, and the club now needs all members of the ‘Avenue family’ to rally behind it like never before.
“I urge all supporters to join the trust, get involved, and actively help secure the future of the club.”
