TERRAS: We must do better, says Brendon King
BRENDON King cut a very frustrated figure following Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Biggleswade Town.
The Weymouth boss felt his men were not at the races for much of the contest and paid the price for a poor first half.
King told Echosport: “The performance was not good enough.
“We were not at it from the start and then conceded a second just before half-time, which in the end proved a real killer.
“We then came out in the second half and had a good go, but it wasn’t really until they had a man sent off and we scored from the resulting penalty that we really put them under any sustained pressure.
“It was very frustrating and extremely annoying because we know we are a lot better than that.
“You have got to earn the right to win any game and we never did that on Saturday. Too many players weren’t firing on all cylinders and in the end we were punished.”
The defeat has seen the Terras slip to 11th in the Calor Southern Premier Division, five points adrift of the play-offs, but King still feels it is early days.
He added: “We are playing well in spells and I am confident that once things click someone will be on the end of a real hiding.
“Although we are 10 games in now we are still working out our best side and the best way to play.
“A lot of new players have come in and with us only being part-time it was always going to take a while for things to come together.
“Unfortunately, we don’t always get as much time to work on things as we want and because of that we are still learning about what certain people can do.
“One thing is for sure though, we have a lot of good players in this squad who know they have got to do better than they did at the weekend.”
Next up for the Terras is a third qualifying round tie in the FA Cup at Cirencester Town on Saturday.
