Dorset Under-18 Cup first round
BRIDPORT 4 PARLEY SPORTS 3
BRIDPORT Under-17s produced another fantastic performance to edge a seven-goal thriller against Parley Sports.
The older visitors, who currently sit in mid-table in Dorset Under-18s Division One, might have expected to cruise into the next round but the Bees had very different ideas and raced into a 2-0 lead with goals from Jonah Ayunga and Olly Woodcock.
Sports then pulled one back from the spot before Bridport restored their two-goal advantage with a penalty of their own, which was cleanly dispatched by Sam Tabner.
Parley continued to press hard but when Ayunga added a fourth before half-time following a fine interception from Billy Jones, the Bees appeared to be in full control.
However, Sports rallied after the break and it was only some fine saves from Will Aburrow that thwarted them from completing an incredible comeback as the hosts held on for a 4-3 win.
Bridport manager Terry Warren said: “The lads should feel very proud of that performance and we are now looking forward to the next round on November 3.”
