TERRAS: Ridley calls on investors to show their hand
IAN Ridley is urging the potential new investors in Weymouth FC to present their case to the fans.
The former Terras’ chairman, is not dismissing the proposal but is concerned about the lack of information surrounding it at the present time.
Ridley, who remains a shareholder in the club, said: “If these potential investors have the best interests of the club at heart and have a sustainable plan of how they want to take the club forward in terms of financing and the stadium, then no one would object, assuming that certain safeguards were in place.
“However, we don’t know who they are or what their motives are.
“I would urge a no vote at the EGM and then ask the board to hold a fans’ forum so that these new people can then present their case, their manifesto, for taking the club forward.
“They should be required to answer the hard questions supporters are asking.
“After that, it should then be possible to call a proper EGM, with facts out in the open, for a vote to determine whether the principle of abandoning communal ownership is worth giving up.”
