MICHAEL Walker will miss tomorrow’s huge FA Cup tie at Cirencester Town (3pm).
The defender is set to turn out for the reserves instead after Brendon King admitted to rushing him back too soon following a hernia operation.
The Weymouth boss told Echosport: “We have looked at the situation and the truth is I probably brought Michael back too quickly.
“He had been out since pre-season, so the fact we expected him to come straight back in and play Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday last week was perhaps too much to ask.
“His fitness levels are pretty good. It’s just his match fitness and sharpness that we need to work on. “A couple of weeks getting that back and he will be flying.”
The Terras will also travel to the Corinium Stadium with just one keeper. King added: “Yeovil Town do not want Matt Cafer cup-tied, so he will play for the reserves, while Jordan Tewkesbury is on county duty.
“The other change will see Jamie Symes back in the squad after a run out for the reserves last weekend.”
Cirencester have won nine out of their last 10 games in all competitions and currently sit sixth in Calor Division One South & West, just one level below the Terras.
And with £7,500 up for grabs, along with a place in the fourth qualifying round draw, King is under no illusions about just how tough the clash will be.
He said: “There has been a lot of stuff going on at the club off the pitch this week but the most important thing is to win tomorrow.
“We had Cirencester watched on Tuesday night when they beat Didcot 7-1 in the FA Trophy and they are a decent side.
“Not only have they got some good players but they are also going well in their league, so we know it’s going to be a tough game.
“For every club at this level a cup run is massive and I am fully expecting a huge reaction from the lads following last Saturday’s defeat at Biggleswade.
“We need to go there and be at it from the start.”
The prize money could also prove extremely handy, particularly with a gruelling run of away fixtures on the horizon.
From October 26 to November 22, just two out of the Terras’ seven games will be on home turf and one of those is a Dorset Senior Cup clash.
Hinckley United were scheduled to visit the Bob Lucas Stadium during that period but earlier this week they went into liquidation.
Terras (from): Matthews, Poole, N Walker, McConnell, Wells, Clay, Allen, Symes, Winsper, S Walker, Burbidge, Joyce, Yetton, Ford, Groves.
If tomorrow’s tie ends in a draw the replay will take place at the Bob Lucas Stadium on Wednesday (7.45pm) with the Red Insure Cup match at Bashley being postponed.
Weymouth’s home clash against Burnham in the Calor Southern Premier Division has been rearranged for November 12 (7.45pm).
