TERRAS: Cup dilemma for King
BRENDON King says he faces a selection headache ahead of this weekend’s big FA Cup showdown against Braintree Town.
Other than long-term absentees Simon Evans, Kyle Critchell and Jamie Skinner, the Terras go into Saturday’s clash with a fully-fit squad to choose from.
And those involved in Tuesday’s Red Insure League Cup thrashing of Bashley staked their claim for a place in King’s plans for the visit of Braintree to the Bob Lucas Stadium.
The Terras will reach the FA Cup first round proper if they see off the Skrill Premier high-fliers and King has a lot to think about with so many players finding form at the right time.
“Mark Ford was taken off as a precaution against Bashley but we’ll have a fully-fit squad to pick from on Saturday,” said the boss. “Everyone wants to play and it will be tough to pick a side.
“The performance on Tuesday is one you want because it puts pressure on other players.
“At the moment, I don’t know what the side will be and I’ll have a few headaches because everyone is putting their hand up.”
Mark Ford scored two of the goals against Bashley and he is a player some fans would like to see start more games.
King added: “Fordy scored two good goals and that’s what he gives you.
“There are other parts of his game he still needs to work on and Stewart Yetton has been in such good form this season it’s been tough for him to get in the side.”
